A woman who lived a few towns over from Barre had not heard of the cross. One night she was saying her prayers and a soft man's voice spoke right out loud to her, he said: “There is a man in Barre with a cross, give him a message, to keep strait the things of God from religion and the world." The next morning she didn’t know what to do because she didn’t have a name so she decided to call up the Barre newspaper to see if there had ever been anything written about a Cross. The lady at the Barre Gazette who answered the phone happened to be John’s sister Mary. Mary told the woman about John and the cross. The woman then called up the cross to relay this message.
